How to go live on Instagram from OBS with a live scoreboard

Facts checked 22 October 2026

Switch your Instagram account to Professional. On instagram.com, click Create → Live to get a stream URL and key. Paste them into OBS under Settings → Stream → Custom, using a portrait 1080 × 1920 canvas with the Dawrify overlay. Then start streaming in OBS and click Go live on Instagram.

1. Switch to a Professional account

In the Instagram app, open Settings → Account type and tools → Switch to professional account. It is free. Choose Creator or Business. Only Professional accounts can stream from a computer.

2. Build a portrait scene

Use the same portrait setup as TikTok: a 1080 × 1920 canvas in its own OBS profile, the overlay at Width 1080 and Height 1920, and the scoreboard in a top corner, away from Instagram's comments at the bottom. Under Stoppages, choose Bug for Before kick-off, Half-time and Full-time: the full-screen scenes are built for landscape.

  2. 2OBS: Settings → Stream → Service: Custom.Paste both. The key changes every session, so do this before each match.
  3. 3Start Streaming in OBS, wait for the preview, then click Go live.Instagram shows the preview from OBS before anyone can see it.

Instagram limits how long one live can last, and the limit has changed over time. For a full tournament day, stream to YouTube or Facebook and post short clips to Instagram instead.
